TESTIMONIALS
JANICE RILEY | Ceramic Artist | Sydney, Western Australia
I would like to write of the courage of Metta Setiandi. I first meet this lovely person at a Gaya woodfiring workshop. Metta told us of her desire to experience clay for the first time. It became clear that Metta brought with her amazing skills from her profession and she was determined to apply these skills to her work with clay- a brave approach- for many reasons. Not the least the ability to believe in yourself and not to be swayed by peer pressure. Metta worked hard with precision and care to plan and execute her piece. Producing a piece of pottery is a process with many stages. Each stage brings with it, its own problems. Metta was able to overcome these with quiet contemplation and some help from mentors. However with all pottery you cannot keep control of your piece all of the time - nature likes to intervene, air, fire and water will have their way with it. This is another instance where Metta had to have courage , and let go. Her mosaics are unique and beautiful and she has produced a stunning media work around them. Congratulations Metta. XX
