To mark the celebration of Lunar New Year 2019, Kaum Jakarta invites Studio Metta Setiandi for an art and cultural collaboration that is held in Jakarta starting 27 January - 20 February 2019.

27 January 2019 — Opening Ceremony
The installation is inspired from Zheng Nian, an ideology that has a significant influence in Metta’s everyday practice. Aimed to encourage action towards positive intention into our life. Curated from Metta’s existing artworks and were reproduced into varied mediums by the respected three Artists,

28 January - 01 February 2019 — Collaborative Painting by Metta Setiandi | Live Performance in Kaum Jakarta
The audience are invited to collaborate into the making of the Centerpiece Artwork using Chinese calligraphy brush and ink. Giving the time and space to each and everyone to reconnect or even opens up their curiosity and fear of making an considerably new act of making. Metta performed a simple brief on every participant in steps of,
Inviting the Participant to the workspace. Prepared them one piece of paper and the calligraphy brush. Giving them the time and space to thought of any positive state of happiness, prayers and intention — And shares a brief idea about being in the moment and took an act on your intention. Also the noting that to pour their pure act through a single motion of brushstroke.
Each and every piece of Participant’s brushstrokes were carefully perforated, cropped and collected by Metta and her Friends. More than 200 people participated in the centerpiece making, each and every of it shares the positive intention. On Friday, 01 February 2019, Metta performed her final making of the centerpiece and witnessed by all Kaum Jakarta customers.

04 February 2019 — Collaborative Art by Metta Setiandi | Centerpiece Installation
To mark the closing of the dog year welcoming the pig year, the Centerpiece artwork is installed on the Chinese New Year Eve 2019. The centerpiece is available for viewing in Kaum Jakarta from 04 - 19 February 2019. This artwork will one day be auctioned for fund raising to support a cause. We wish to be the light onto one another especially for those in need.
